Born in Chelmsford in 1951, studied graphic design at Colchester and Maidstone art colleges. Worked in design and advertising in agencies in Essex and London for ten years and gained experience in photography doing studio advertising work.

Moved to Skye full time in 1984. Fished commercially for lobsters and crabs for seventeen years and took up photography again seriously in the last few years.

I have always had a keen interest in photography since my years at art college. Until recently I have always worked with film but now I find that digital gives me more control over my images.

Skye is a wonderful place for photography, there is a vast range of scenes and subjects from one end of the island to the other, and the lighting conditions are constantly changing.

Born in Gibraltar in 1951, studied fine art at Newcastle Upon Tyne. Introduced to wood engraving by Leo Wyatt in 1974. Resident in Scotland since 1976 and full time in Skye since 1987.

I employ the medium of wood engraving, an original relief printing process, to interpret and record the area in which I live, including landscape and wildlife. The blocks are usually end-grain boxwood, sometimes lemonwood. I edition my prints on fine papers using an Albion hand press. Sometimes I work to commission in illustration and design. Private Presses I have worked with include The Fleece Press, Wild Hawthorn Press- in collaboration with Ian Hamilton Finlay, Whittington Press, Black Pennel Press, Partick Press, Perpetua Press and Folio Society.

In 2001 my partner Nick Carter and I restored a croft cottage as a studio and gallery at Colbost, NW Skye. Normally we are open to visitors Monday to Friday, Easter to October, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. November to February by appointment, email or call 01470511367. Prints can be purchased by mail order.

The dimensions of the engravings are shown below the image.
